Welcome to counseling services at CedarBrook Counseling. There are times in everyone’s life when some help, understanding, and encouragement can make a difference. You deserve credit for recognizing that this might be one of those times and for taking a step toward changing and improving your situation. Counseling can be very rewarding. Just talking about your stresses to someone who cares can help. But, as with most things, what you get out of counseling is related to what you put into it. Although it may not always “feel good” at each session, over the course of time you can begin to see differences in your life. You are in charge of your life and your treatment. I will be your guide, coach, and (at times) your critic. There may be times we need others on our team. Then we will look to others for their help and expertise. We can work together so that you can begin to be comfortable with yourself and from that foundation enter more fully into relationships with others. I look forward to being of service. Please let me know how you find your counseling to be progressing and if there is anything we might want to change as we proceed. Sincerely, Jerry E. Jensen, MA, LP |

Cedarbrook policies have been developed to balance your rights and responsibilities with those of your counselor. Although some Cedarbrook policies may be different than policies of other providers in the Brainerd Lakes Area, they are similar to common practices throughout Minnesota. Cedarbrook Counseling requires a 24-hour notice to cancel appointmentsCedarbrook Counseling does not follow the “three strikes and you’re out rule”. Some providers discontinue services if you miss three appointments, we do not. However, missed appointments (without 24-hour advance notice) are billed at the normal rate. Health Insurance companies typically do not cover missed appointment charges and you will be billed directly for these charges. Cedarbrook Counseling provides quality services consistent with the practice parameters developed by prominent mental health organizations (i.e. the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, etc.). Many people use health insurance benefits to help pay for medically necessary mental health services. You have a contract with your health insurance company for specific benefits. Sometimes those benefits are not adequate to provide all needed or recommended mental health services. You must determine if you wish to follow our recommendation even though your health insurance company will not pay for those services. In rare cases, we may discontinue services if you do not comply with treatment recommendations. Billing Services are provided by Rapid Return Medical Billing. As required by federal law, Rapid Return and Cedarbrook Counseling have a HIPAA business agreement which details the exact nature of confidentiality and data privacy. We are “out of network” providers for many health insurance plans. You need to contact your health plan managers to determine how payment for services is processed. You may have to be persistent. Clients need to pay full fee or copay at each session. |
